Clarks Island March 15

March field trip will view nesting birds and hopefully some dancing grebes!

Please note. This month’s field trip is still on the third Saturday still but is before our monthly program meeting as it usually is.

Redbud Audubon’s March field trip on March 15, promises to be fun and also allow viewing from places not usually available. Donna Mackiewicz, field trip co-chair and Redbud Audubon president, will welcome everyone at the Clarks Island boat launch area in Clearlake Oaks.

Next, the group will be treated to some special views from some residences in the Clearlake Oaks Keys Subdivision. We should see some forming cormorant and heron rookeries. We might see some “rushing” Western and Clark’s Grebes as well. Bring a lunch if you like, and hopefully the weather will be nice!

The meeting place is at Clark’s Island: 12684 Island Dr. Clearlake Oaks, 95423. Coming from City of Clearlake, it is a left turn on the west end of town into the parking lot of the main boat launching area. The field trip will start promptly at 9 a.m.

Clarks Island is a 1.48 acres parcel purchased by the County in 2007 and developed to provide information to promote environmental sustainability.
