Bird Walk for Saturday, October 22, 2016
This should be a really interesting field trip on Oct. 22 led by Pat Harmon to the Pt. Arena- Stornetta Public Lands, a new portion of the California Coastal National Monument near Pt. Arena. Meet at 8 a.m. at the Park and Ride facility on Highway 29 near the Hwy. 175 (Hopland) intersection in Lakeport. Carpooling will be arranged from that point.
This complex and fragile ecosystem is a haven for Great Blue Herons and shorebirds. Even Laysan Albatross, Peregrine Falcons, and Oyster Catchers have been viewed there. There is a coastal path and an inland trail. Be prepared for a 2 or 3 hour trip. For information, call field trip leader, Pat Harmon at (707) 263-4977.
